👨‍🏫 Instructors: Madlen Dimitrova, Eng. Miroslav Dzhildzhov

⚙️ Format: 70% hands-on, 30% explanation — working in small steps, each session ends with a visible working result.

🎁 Final Product: an interactive dinobot with RGB eyes, sensors, and sound, that the child presents and takes home.

Learning Objectives

  • Developing logical thinking through simple cause-and-effect relationships: input → processing → output.
  • First steps in electronics: LED, resistor, button, buzzer, ultrasonic sensor, LDR.
  • Developing engineering thinking through building, testing, troubleshooting, and improving.
  • Developing skills to present a project to parents.

Required Materials and Organization

  • Arduino-compatible board, breadboard, wires, RGB LED, standard LEDs, buttons, resistors, buzzer, HC-SR04, LDR, cardboard/boxes for the model.
  • Suitable for beginners; no prior experience required.

Weekly Structure

Week 1

Robo-Dinosaur – Basics and RGB Eyes

Session 1

3 Moods of the Dinosaur (RGB + Button)

Safety, Arduino as the “brain,” breadboard, GND, RGB LED, button, and first interactive logic.

Session 2

The Dinobot’s Real Eyes (2 x RGB)

Building two RGB “eyes,” switching modes, blinking, and an “angry mode.”

Week 2

Senses – Distance and Sound

Session 3

The Dinosaur Sees (HC-SR04)

Measuring distance and reacting in three zones with different colors.

Session 4

The Dinosaur Roars (Buzzer)

Adding sound and syncing sound + color based on distance.

Week 3

Control Panel and Commands

Session 5

4 Buttons = 4 Commands

Selecting modes via buttons and light indicators on the panel.

Session 6

The Dinobot Talks – 4 Sounds

Different tones/rhythms for different “emotions” and commands.

Week 4

Light, Final Model, and Presentation

Session 7

The Dinobot Falls Asleep When It’s Dark

LDR sensor and automatic behavior based on light — “Guard” mode.

Session 8

Final Assembly, Testing, and Demo Day

Finishing the enclosure, final testing, presenting to parents, and taking the project home.

What Parents Get

  • A clear week-by-week course structure and a visible final project.
  • Hands-on work in every session, not just theory.
  • A final project presentation, with the child taking their creation home.
  • A suitable framework for beginner students of elementary school age.
