Students in grades 8 – 12
Robotics Course: Programming Intelligent Robotic Systems
A hands-on 1-month course — online lessons plus in-person practical sessions
RoboKor STEAM Academy offers a short practical course for students in grades 8 to 12 who want to understand how electronics, a microcontroller, sensors, motors and program code come together in a working robot.
The course is based on an established robotics curriculum and condensed into 4 weeks. Theory and explanations are delivered online, and skills are consolidated in in-person practical sessions with real equipment.

Programme by week
Week 1
Electronics and your first program
- Current, voltage, resistance, Ohm’s law
- Passive components: resistors, capacitors, inductors – what they do and how to use them
- Active components: diodes, LEDs, transistors, integrated circuits – working with them
- Measuring with a multimeter: voltage, current, resistance, continuity checks
- What a microcontroller is, Arduino and a first program
Practical session: Building circuits on a breadboard and measuring real components
Week 2
Inputs, outputs and sensors
- Digital and analog inputs and outputs
- Distance, light and temperature sensors
- Reading and interpreting sensor data
- Conditions, loops and functions
Practical session: Connecting sensors and reading data on a real microcontroller
Week 3
Motors and a mobile robot
- DC motors, servos and motor drivers
- PWM – speed and direction
- Wiring from a diagram, checking polarity
- Assembling and first start-up of a robot
Practical session: Assembling a mobile robot and driving the motors
Week 4
Autonomous behaviour and project
- States and decision-making logic
- Obstacle avoidance or line following
- Finding and fixing errors
- Final project, demonstration and an introduction to AI in robotics
Practical session: Testing the autonomous robot and final demonstration
Format and outcomes
How it works
- Blended format: online sessions via video call plus in-person practical sessions
- Every week: 2 online theory sessions (60 minutes each), then 1 in-person practical session (60 minutes)
- In the practical sessions students work with real equipment: components, microcontrollers, sensors, motors and measuring instruments
- Suitable for beginners and for students with basic knowledge of electronics or programming
After the course, students will be able to
- Work with a multimeter – measure voltage, current and resistance
- Recognise active and passive electronic components and know what they are for
- Read electrical schematics and build circuits from them
- Work with Arduino and a breadboard – connect circuits without soldering
- Program a microcontroller – write and modify programs
- Connect sensors and motors and read data from them
- Implement basic autonomous robot behaviour
- Find and fix typical wiring and programming errors
€220for the whole one-month course (4 weeks, 12 sessions of 60 minutes, practical sessions included)
